Gabor Maté
Gabor Maté ( ; born January 1944) is a Canadian physician and author. He has previously worked in family practices and has a special interest in childhood development and trauma, including their potential long-term effects on physical and mental health, such as autoimmune diseases, cancer, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and addictions.Maté's approach to addiction emphasizes the role of trauma in the development of substance-use disorders, aiming to address underlying emotional pain as part of recovery. In his book "''In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction,''" Maté discusses the forms of trauma experienced by people with addictions and how these experiences influence behaviour and decision-making later in life.
He has written five books exploring topics including ADHD, stress, developmental psychology, and addiction. Provided by Wikipedia
