Lisa Tessman is a Professor of Philosophy at Binghamton University in New York, and a Senior Researcher at the University of Oslo. In 2023-2024 she served as President of the Eastern Division of the American Philosophical Association. She works in ethics, moral psychology, and feminist philosophy, with a focus on how people experience morality under difficult conditions. Her books include ''When Doing the Right Thing Is Impossible'' (Oxford University Press 2017), ''Moral Failure: On the Impossible Demands of Morality'' (Oxford University Press 2015) and ''Burdened Virtues: Virtue Ethics for Liberatory Struggles'' (Oxford University Press 2005).
